Q & A

Woke up this morning with a weird feeling and came up with this:

If I could ask just one question to

Sean ‘Puffy’ Combs:
What’s with all the name changes? First it was Puffy, the Puff Daddy, then P. Diddy and now its just Diddy. Talk about confused! What’s next ‘D’ or ‘P'?

The director of ‘Mother Teresa’ who approached Paris Hilton for the role:
What the hell are you thinking? Do you not know her at all? He said he was impressed that she refused to pose nude for playboy but hey it wouldn’t be anything that the world has not already seen. More importantly… she can’t act

Madonna:
I do agree, you do look great for your age but do you really still need to be putting yourself out there and making videos? Take a hint from Gorillaz and use animation.

Record Labels:
What’s the big idea of releasing a brand new album which has only two new songs and the rest are a compilation from previous albums?

Bollywood Movie makers:
Do you think we are so stupid that we won’t realize that you’ve borrowed an entire screenplay and churned it off as one of your own or have the nerve to say its original?

Punjabi Sin(g)ers:
Don’t all the songs by these artists sound the same? Am fed up with the whole Punjabi-Indi-pop genre.

Apun ka public:
How can you believe the stuff put out there by the politicians and how do you just stand and watch as a man announces that he is going to set himself on fire and try to help only after his entire body is engulfed in flames?

Media:
Why don’t you guys just give all of us a break? Some things do not need to be blown way out of proportion. Yes we are for the exposes on corruption, red tape, exploitation etc., but do we really need an expose on what kind of soap shahrukh uses?

Amithabh Bachchan:
Yes you are a superstar, a legend and an icon but do you really need to do ads for Dabur Chawanprash and Cadbury’s? Do you want to be remembered as the person who uttered the line ‘pappu pass ho gaya’ rather than ‘ye police station hain, tumharey baap ka ghar nahin… jab tak baitney ko na kaha jaaye, shaarafat sey khade raho’

The promoters of SlimFast and AyuSlim:
Wouldn’t the world be a better place if all we needed was to pop a few pills and viola… instant weight loss?

Dial 'M' for Marriage

Saw a recent article on the increase in the number of arranged marriages especially those of Indian men working/settled in USA and Indian women in India. It is estimated that the US Consulate receives approximately 1000 visa applications per day filed by these men.
Isn’t the youth of today supposed to be against arranged marriages or at least the concept of arranged marriages? Don’t they want to know their partner for some time before they take the big step?
Recently, I received an invitation for the wedding of a school buddy. Didn’t even know he was engaged actually. Gave him a call and he told me that his folks had spoken to a family friend who suggested a girl they knew. The pictures were exchanged and after many conversations on the internet and telephone, they decided to get married. Now it may just be me but how can you decide to get married to someone who you haven’t even met in person, shared a meal, drinks, coffee and been with in public? When I raised this issue I was informed that this is a very common phenomenon these days. You can call me crazy but this doesn’t make sense.
What happened to meeting someone, asking them out, going for your first date, the awkwardness in the beginning, the suspense, the romance (or lack of) and getting to know those goofy little habits they have.
I know what you’re thinking… it’s the guys who say they’re against arranged marriages that end up being in one but not this guy!
...Not this guy!

Go ahead, make my day!

Am in a pissed off mood today. Am not too sure why, it just feels like one of those days. Is it because:

  • its too hot and its getting to me
  • spent most of my time the last few days, on the road, dealing with traffic
  • people can be such bastards
  • seen the newspaper guys standing in the road in the heat and selling newspapers and people complain that they have it bad
  • people have lost the sense of common courtesy / decency
  • cant get myself to go to the gym – I hate being alone in a room for a prolonged period of time
  • no genre of music seems to rid me of this state
  • maybe from watching too much CSI (go figure!)
  • am missing my cousin’s wedding (who specifically reminded me yesterday how much she misses me
  • I want to be somewhere else and am still figuring out how to get there

I am sure that like everything else this too will pass but the transition is taking too long.

Cha-Ching!

Warner Bros. Studios recently announced that the cast of F.R.I.E.N.D.S have agreed to do four one-hour long episodes for $5 million each. This after their declaration during the 8th,9th and 10th season that it would be their last. This after they had collectively decided that they wanted to exit on a high and they didn’t see the point in dragging the show any further.

Don’t get me wrong… I am an ardent follower of the show, although I feel that it got too emotional and sentimental from season 8 onwards with the weddings, pregnancies, births, adoption and reunion. The humour that had become synonymous with the show declined and it was just a wait for the studios to agree to pull the plug.

Although the writers did an amazing job of taking the show for that long with their ever crisp and witty lines, could they have done something different in the end? All I can say is they better come up with one helluva script if they want people to watch these episodes.

O brother! Where art thou?

Its been a while since my last post.. more than a month to be exact. I have been away unexpectedly, away from home, away from work, away from friends, away from my life!

Its kind of funny that whenever I got a chance to get online, I would check mail and then throw a quick look at some blogs (mostly Casablanca, Khizzy and Creative Lock). Its ironic that the 100 or so words written by these unknowns brings a smile to my face. Not that I was depressed or anything but just missed my routine – my comfort zone.

Why do I feel like something’s missing when things do not go according to my liking or as expected? Why this obsession with routine. As they say, we are afraid of what we do not (fore)see. Although I am a Gemini thru and thru, who needs people around me, needs variety in life, tends to be extremely restless, I am very particular when it comes to certain things… food for one, I tend to have a select few dishes that I order in any given restaurant, clothes is another. If I like a certain product, it has my undying loyalty.

Anyways, on to brighter things, am finally back to my routine. To those who kept me (in)sane through these days… grazie and kudos!
P.S. Arroclint is not an unknown, its just that he keeps surprising me with his insights!!
